Menara Networks Completes Series D Round
Menara Networks, a maker of telecom gear, has raised a little over $4 million in equity financing, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Investors in the Dallas-based company weren't disclosed in the document. Previous investors include Sigma Partners, Spark Capital, the venture arm of Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) and Concept Ventures.
Menara makes a box called an optical transceiver, which sends and receives both analog and digital signals carried via light. The device supposedly eliminates the need for other types of gear used in voice and data networks.
Menara's Web site also maintains that its gear can add various management functions to Ethernet technology, a commonly-used type of networking technology used over short distances.
The company's president and CEO, Siraj Nour El-Ahmadi, wasn't immediately available for comment Friday afternoon.
